Senior Civil / Structural Design Engineer
We are recruiting for a Senior Civil / Structural Design Engineer in our Building Engineering Team at the Newark office. We offer flexible, hybrid working arrangements. This role involves delivering high-quality engineering solutions for commercial and industrial projects, exceeding client expectations.
About The Design Business: RPS Design Division handles projects across sectors like residential, logistics, retail, healthcare, education, energy, and more. We focus on balancing form and function, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness, leveraging digital tools to enhance project delivery from concept through detailed design.
What you’ll be doing:
- Work closely with the team director and project lead
- Manage design and drawing production
- Collaborate and delegate tasks within the team
- Mentor junior staff; provide technical guidance
- Participate in client and project meetings
- Assist with site inspections and surveys
- Perform design tasks using expert knowledge
- Ensure high-quality technical output
- Maintain good relationships with clients and external teams
- Manage project budgets and support fee proposals
- Produce detailed technical designs and reports
- Validate models and calculations, adhere to BIM protocols
Who we’re looking for:
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (preferably MSc with ICE/IStructE membership)
- Chartered or working towards Chartered status
- Minimum 4 years postgraduate experience
- Proficient in relevant software and legislation
- Strong project management and commercial awareness
- Excellent communication skills
