Nuclear Safety Assessor

RPS Risk have opportunities available for a Nuclear Safety Assessor to join our Health, Safety & Risk business. We are flexible on location.

The RPS Risk team has been a leading provider of nuclear safety and risk consultancy services to clients in the UK for over 30 years. We are able to provide our core radiological safety assessment services supported with in-house specialist capabilities in Criticality safety, Radiological Shielding assessment, Human Factors, Nuclear Fire and Peer Review from our team of 50 staff. This capability is complemented by a growing Fire (conventional) and Process Safety section providing services across a range of sectors.

Due to the nature of the work we undertake all selected candidates will be required to undergo security clearance.

The Role:

  • As a Nuclear Safety Assessor, you will be working on safety projects across the UK. You will be focussed on the preparation of nuclear safety cases and supporting documentation.
  • Key responsibilities include:
  • Working with appropriate supervision (RPS Project Manager and/or clients) delivering fit for purpose safety documentation.
  • Liaison with engineering, plant operators and other specialist safety disciplines, . Human Factors, Fire, Criticality, Radiological Shielding, Environmental, to present coherent and comprehensive safety cases.
  • Representing RPS, making a good impression to clients, potential clients and your peers.
  • Your skills and experience:

  • You will have at least 2 years experience in nuclear safety (or other high hazard industries)
  • A degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, . Physics, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control/ Electrical Engineering
  • Excellent customer service manner with strong listening and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible in approach to support effective delivery
