We have a career opportunity for a Mechanical Project Engineer who will contribute as a key member of our Building Services Team. This is a hybrid role, primarily based in Dublin or Cork, with offices also available in Galway, Kilkenny, and Sligo.
Our Building Services Team includes enthusiastic and experienced engineers from Graduate to Director level, working closely with clients, architects, and engineers to deliver exciting projects across various sectors. Current projects include healthcare buildings for the HSE, schools, universities, laboratories, pharmaceutical facilities, and port infrastructure. We are committed to professional development and support employees in gaining Chartered Engineer status. You will work within a team dedicated to sustainability and low-carbon initiatives, reducing energy demand, and harnessing renewable energy sources.
About the role:
You will be based in Cork or Dublin and work under a senior engineer on all aspects of project delivery from concept to hand-over. Responsibilities include feasibility studies, design using calculation spreadsheets, IES thermal modelling, AutoCAD, and Revit. Site visits during construction to monitor progress and quality are also required. You will collaborate with team members and participate in client meetings, demonstrating RPS values and behaviours.
Qualifications:
- Industry-related Level 8 Degree in Mechanical, Building Services, or Energy Engineering.
- Membership of a professional body such as Engineers Ireland or CIBSE is advantageous.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a consultancy practice.
- Experience in various sectors (Commercial, Industrial, Pharmaceutical, Educational, Healthcare, Hospitality, Residential, Data Centres).
- Proven track record in designing and coordinating mechanical building services projects.
- Knowledge of low-carbon design principles, nZEB, Part L compliance.
- Established relationships with public and private sector clients.
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience with projects in a BIM environment using Revit.
Key Skills & Responsibilities:
- Core building services design, including HVAC, controls, utilities, and drainage.
- Preparation of feasibility studies, design drawings, reports, specifications, cost estimates, tendering, and commissioning.
- Engagement with clients, design teams, and contractors.
- Applying BIM Level 2 procedures and coordinating with other discipline models.
- Effective team collaboration from inception to completion.
- Use of thermal modelling software like IES and detailed calculation spreadsheets.
- Supporting business development opportunities.
