RPS is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our environment team as an apprentice. We can base the role at a variety of locations including Bristol, Abingdon, London and Manchester. The position will suit someone with a real interest in geology and contaminated land who enjoys a balance of office and site works and travelling. RPS is a leading global multi-disciplinary consultancy. We specialise in all areas of the built and natural environment, shaping the future of our environmental, social and economic landscapes.

We will facilitate and sponsor (including payment of course fees) the successful candidate on a relevant environmental degree course undertaken part time (Block release for 6 – 10 weeks a year) over a five-year period. The remainder of the full-time post would be spent supporting our geo-environmental teams undertaking environmental and geotechnical ground investigations, environmental monitoring programmes, environmental audits and related activities on behalf of our clients.

Your role:

  • Site based environmental monitoring such as water and soil sampling.
  • Site based support for our ground investigation projects.
  • Preparing information and undertaking assessments to support environmental desk study appraisals and subsequent assessments.
  • Environmental data entry and management, becoming familiar with industry data formats including software packages for the management of geotechnical and Geo-environmental data.
  • Geological appraisals.
  • Working individually (with supervision) or as part of a site team.
  • Helping prepare factual reports.

  • Desk studies and Preliminary Risk Assessments.

  • Ground engineering appraisals.
  • Waste classification and material reuse.

The salary will be in line with government minimum wage ranging between £161 and £334 a week depending on age.
