Associate/Senior Associate Planner
We are searching for an experienced Associate/Senior Associate Planner at our Edinburgh – Atholl Exchange facility.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
RPS is looking for an Associate/Senior Associate Planner to join our Planning team to be based in either our Belfast, Glasgow or Edinburgh office. Working alongside a range of multi-disciplinary services, the role will provide an opportunity to work on varied projects, primarily in the renewables sector, providing you with rich experience in town planning across Northern Ireland and Scotland. Although work for this role is focused in the renewables sector, there will be opportunities to work on our projects that include major planning applications for major infrastructure projects through to supporting the delivery of office, retail or residential schemes.

What you’ll be doing
With our planning service at the heart of the business, the role will provide a progressive step towards managing planning casework independently and helping towards defining a career pathway towards an Associate/Technical Director role.
This is a key role where you will actively link between Technical Directors/ Directors and the wider team, providing mentoring and evidence where appropriate. You’ll be responsible for managing and overseeing client projects from commencement to completion and ensuring delivery is achieved to target.
A typical day could include:
· Supporting Planning Directors’ in successfully delivering their planning caseload
· Directly engaging in our business development initiatives
· Actively supporting our Senior Planners, Planners, Assistant Planners and Graduates
· Taking a lead role, preparing bid proposals, supporting colleagues with tender submissions and helping them to deliver and manage projects
· Assist in public consultations with preparatory materials and represent RPS at public events in support of client proposals
· Attend and monitor committee and other hearings
Who we’re looking for
· A fully qualified RTPI chartered town planner
· Substantive planning experience in the renewables sector (wind, solar, BESS etc)
· Ability to work under tight deadlines in a corporate environment
· A passion for planning, development and environmental issues
· A good working knowledge of planning policy
· A keen eye on emerging planning policy
· A strategic thinker and someone who can readily problem solve
· A market awareness and a good understanding of local planning issues
