RPS is currently seeking an Associate / Associate Director (Building Services). This role will cover the Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and London office locations. The team is UK based and spread across these locations.

About The Design Business: RPS Design Division delivers projects across multiple sectors including residential, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, manufacturing, data centres, and energy. We focus on balancing form and function, sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. Digitalisation is central to our delivery, enabling clients to experience designs from concept through detailed drawings, supported by expertise across industries and disciplines.

What you’ll be doing: This is an exciting role for someone aiming to progress as an Associate / Associate Director within our industry-leading team, known for excellence across sectors. You will collaborate with team leaders and support staff to optimise resources and manage project finances.

  • Manage engineering resources and project finances across the Building Services Group, including mechanical, electrical, utilities, BIM, energy, and BREEAM teams.
  • Support growth and profitability of the MEP cost centre by managing operational delivery and bidding for projects and resources.
  • Plan, review, and deliver multi-disciplinary projects ensuring client requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Lead financial performance across offices within the Building Services cost centre and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure active, accurate financial management of projects to meet budgets and KPIs.
  • Ensure all work complies with RPS Terms and Conditions and that tenders are approved.
  • Manage resources to deliver desired profit margins.
  • Provide technical leadership and support technological improvements.
  • Oversee and manage project delivery, variations, scope changes, invoicing, and debt recovery.
  • Develop relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Lead proposals and bid processes, collaborating across the business.
  • Support business development initiatives and strategic planning.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's IMS within the MEP group.
  • Manage changes to support IMS evolution and implementation.
  • Analyze and update financial information monthly.
  • Ensure staff use appropriate PPE.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as required.

Who we’re looking for: Ideally from a consultancy or contracting background in building services design. Incorporated or Chartered Engineer or an engineering degree. Approximately 10 years of industry experience, with leadership or support roles in multiple projects. Strong industry experience and desire to focus on internal operations rather than external business development.
