RPS is currently seeking an Associate / Associate Director for our UK offices in Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, and London. The team is UK-based and spread across these locations.

About The Design Business: RPS Design Division delivers projects across sectors including residential, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, manufacturing, data centres, energy, and more. We focus on balancing form and function, sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. Digitalisation is central to our delivery, enabling clients to experience designs from concept through execution, supported by decades of expertise across industries and disciplines.

What you’ll be doing: This role is ideal for someone looking to advance their career as an Associate / Associate Director within a reputable team. You will work with team leaders and Business Support to optimise resources and manage project finances.

  • Manage engineering resources and project finances across the Building Services Group, including mechanical, electrical, utilities, BIM, energy, and BREEAM teams.
  • Support growth and profitability of the MEP cost centre by managing project delivery and bidding.
  • Oversee multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring client requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Lead financial performance across offices and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure active, accurate financial management of projects to meet budgets and KPIs.
  • Ensure all work complies with RPS Terms and Conditions and that tenders are approved.
  • Manage resources to achieve profit margins.
  • Provide technical leadership and support technological improvements.
  • Oversee project delivery, including variations, invoicing, and debt recovery.
  • Develop relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Lead proposals and bid processes, collaborating across the business.
  • Support business development initiatives and strategic planning.
  • Manage MEP group compliance with IMS and support system evolution.
  • Analyze and update financial information monthly.
  • Ensure staff safety with appropriate PPE.
  • Assist with ad-hoc duties as required.

Who we’re looking for: Ideally, you have a background in Building Services design, 10+ years of industry experience, and leadership experience. A Chartered or Incorporated Engineer qualification is preferred. You should prefer an inward-focused role without external business development responsibilities.
