RPS is currently seeking an Associate / Associate Director (Building Services). This role will cover the Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and London office locations. The team is UK based and spread across these locations.
About The Design Business: RPS Design Division delivers projects across multiple sectors including residential, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, advanced manufacturing, data centres, energy, and more. We focus on balancing form and function, sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. Digitalisation is central to our delivery, enabling clients to experience designs from concept through detailed drawings, supported by expertise across industries and disciplines.
What you’ll be doing: This role offers career progression as an Associate / Associate Director. You will work with team leaders to optimise resourcing and manage project finances. Duties Include:
- Manage engineering resources and project finances across the Building Services Group, including mechanical, electrical, utilities, BIM, energy, and BREEAM teams.
- Support growth and profitability of the MEP cost centre, managing operations, bidding, and resources.
- Plan, review, and deliver multi-disciplinary projects meeting client requirements and deadlines.
- Lead financial performance across offices and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure active financial management of projects to meet budgets and KPIs.
- Ensure work complies with RPS Terms and Conditions and tenders are approved.
- Manage resources to deliver desired profit margins.
- Provide technical leadership and support technological improvements.
- Oversee commercial terms, scope of work, and fee proposals.
- Manage project delivery, variations, invoicing, and debt recovery.
- Develop relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Lead proposals and bid processes, collaborating across the business.
- Support business development initiatives and strategic planning.
- Ensure MEP group compliance with IMS systems and manage related changes.
- Analyse and update financial information monthly.
- Ensure staff safety equipment is issued.
- Assist with ad-hoc duties as required.
Who we’re looking for: Experience in consultancy or contracting within building services design. Background in mechanical and electrical design. Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status or relevant degree. Approximately 10 years of industry experience, with leadership in projects and teams. Preference for internal-focused roles without external business development.
