Associate Ecologist

RPS, a Tetra Tech company is looking for an Associate Ecologist who can be based in any of our England offices.

About the Team

Our Ecology team delivers a range of ecological services to support renewable energy, residential, commercial and infrastructure projects across the region. We are involved with some of the largest offshore wind developments in the country, as well as onshore wind and solar, helping to deliver clean energy to the UK market. We also have a strong presence in the residential and commercial market, providing variety to the work we do.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Supporting our Senior Ecology Management Team in managing and growing our existing London Ecology team, providing strategic direction and operational oversight in an urban context.
  • Providing support within the Ecology operating unit, as well as collaborating with peers within the wider business, to support an inclusive, agile, and high-performing sector.
  • Driving business growth by strengthening relationships with key clients in and urban development sectors, and identifying new opportunities in emerging markets such as biodiversity net gain and nature-based solutions in complex urban environments.
  • Ensuring delivery of projects in line with UK legislation, planning policy, and best practice.
  • Supporting the professional development of junior ecologists, helping them navigate the complexities of city-based projects and build rewarding careers.
  • Championing innovation and technical excellence, particularly in integrating ecology into multifunctional urban spaces and infrastructure.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Leadership – Proven ability to lead and inspire teams in a high-pressure, multidisciplinary environment. Strong client engagement skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Project Management – Extensive experience managing complex urban ecology projects, including EIA, green infrastructure, and biodiversity net gain assessments. Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
  • Technical Expertise – A strong track record in delivering ecological solutions for major infrastructure and regeneration projects in London or other urban areas. Familiarity with planning frameworks such as the London Plan and local biodiversity strategies.
  • Innovation – A forward-thinking approach to urban ecology, with an interest in nature-based design, ecological resilience, and smart city integration.
