This position offers an opportunity to be part of a new programming and services in a unique and meaningful work environment. Work directly alongside clinical crisis staff in facility and community settings to provide in-the-moment representation of the consumer perspective to assist in de-escalation and crisis intervention by providing empathy, emotional support, encouragement, and education that can only come from personal lived experience. This position will be part of HCS’ larger Peer Recovery Team across all crisis and HCS services.

Position Specifics:

  • Location: Abingdon, VA
  • Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt, Wednesday - Saturday, 8:00pm-6:00am
  • Compensation: $16.00 with a $1 shift differential for nights – Commensurate with education/experience
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED and Peer Recovery Specialist Certification required; can be completed after hire.
  • Experience: Lived experience with SUD or lived experience with SMI or similar diagnosis or lived experience with an immediate family member with SMI or similar diagnosis. To be considered, you must provide an explanation of how your lived experience qualifies you for this role.
