Program Purpose:
Dyno Nobel Canada Inc. is implementing a Labourer Trainee Program (the “Program”) designed to increase the number of women employed in its Retail Sales & Operations sites in Bedford, Nova Scotia. Women have been historically underrepresented in mining and explosives industries, and the Program is intended to provide entry level opportunities to women who might not otherwise apply for current vacancies. No formal experience is required and training will be provided to all participant employees.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Good work habits and a positive attitude
- Ability to read, write and speak English and to communicate in writing and verbally
- Present oneself in a professional manner while working
- Ability to pass required background screening
Essential Functions:
- Operate equipment, including hand tools, in support of team, in order to provide timely, safe, and quality service and product to the customer
- Perform basic maintenance of assigned equipment in order to assure its reliability and safe operation
- Read gauges and make adjustments to equipment to maintain proper performance in order to assure quality and accurate product delivery
- Assist team at site in order to safely serve the customer
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain safe working conditions in shop, magazine, while operating equipment, and while on blast sites in order to protect personal safety and the safety of others
- Maintain safe working conditions at all times
- Report all incidents and hazardous conditions to appropriate supervisors
- Proactively support safety programs by participating in training and safety meetings
