Overview

Commercial, technology and outsourcing associate (c. 2-4 PQE) sought to join a top-tier practice.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent technical lawyer with a commercial approach to negotiations and issue resolution.

The role offers involvement across a selection of work including commercial contracts, core technology contracts (such as cloud computing, systems development and digital transformation), advertising and marketing, adtech and related data matters, and outsourcing (BPO, IT or otherwise).

You will work across sectors with a focus on contracts and negotiations in the retail & consumer, TME, digital, business support services and fintech spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Support on commercial contracts, core technology contracts (including cloud computing, systems development and digital transformation), advertising and marketing, adtech and related data matters, and outsourcing engagements.
  • Work across sectors with emphasis on retail & consumer, TME, digital, business support services and fintech.
  • Address general commercial contracts (goods and/or services; B2B and B2C), agency, distribution, joint ventures and collaboration agreements, and payment service agreements.
  • Engage in advertising and marketing matters, including regulatory investigations, and advise on the regulation of AI where relevant.
  • Contribute to IP and data protection matters, and to commercial and technology M&A transactions (including acquisitions, divestments and joint ventures).
  • Deliver legal and commercial solutions while building collaborative relationships with clients and colleagues to provide an outstanding client experience.
  • Support the team in managing client experience, developing trusted relationships and achieving the best outcomes for clients.
  • Contribute to business development and help grow the practice and network.
  • Work efficiently and commercially, understanding financial discipline and the importance of financial hygiene.
  • Collaborate within a team and support the development of junior team members to help them grow.

  • Engage in transformational and cutting-edge projects, handling a varied and high-profile workload across a range of sectors.

Qualifications and experience

  • 2–4 years of PQE or equivalent relevant expertise in commercial contracts, technology and outsourcing; preferably with experience in advertising and marketing, adtech and adtech data matters.
  • Proven ability to deliver legal and commercial solutions and build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Experience in developing junior team members and contributing to a client-focused service approach.
  • Demonstrated commitment to business development and to progressing within a supportive, inclusive firm culture.
  • Experience in IP, data protection and, where applicable, regulation of AI; familiarity with regulatory investigations in advertising/marketing contexts.
  • Exposure to commercial and technology M&A transactions (acquisitions, divestments and joint ventures) is desirable.
