Our Property and Casualty (P&C) team is seeking applications from ambitious and well-regarded insurance law practitioners for a London-based Senior Associate role.

Fast paced, intellectually stimulating and with considerable autonomy; this role will appeal to those who enjoy dealing with complicated points of law and innovative solutions, have a strong sense of commerciality, and enjoy working collaboratively with clients and other members of the team.

You will have the opportunity to supervise junior fee earners.

  • Manage a caseload of high value coverage and liability claims, occasionally including subrogated recoveries.
  • Advise on complex coverage and claims issues.
  • Build strong client relationships and deliver a high quality and timely output, ensuring excellent client service and alignment with agreed working practices and client service level agreements.
  • Instigate and participate in business development and client relationship management opportunities, including supporting thought leadership and market-facing initiatives.
  • Work to develop an environment of constant improvement: enthusiastically sharing with and helping others; and taking responsibility for aspects of team development (for example training and induction, process improvement, know‑how and collaboration initiatives).
  • Capture and collate required management information in accordance with agreed practice for clients.
  • Build strong client relationships and deliver a high quality and timely output, ensuring excellent client service and alignment with agreed working practices and client service level agreements.
  • Instigate and participate in business development and client relationship management opportunities, including supporting thought leadership and market-facing initiatives.

  • 6 years of PQE or equivalent relevant expertise.
  • A specialism in Property insurance, including coverage experience.
  • Experience advising on a broad portfolio of insurance claims, including for multiple insurers across several sectors, and advising on claims and subrogated recoveries.
  • Experience indefence of liability (including casualty) claimsand associated strategy, including managing stakeholders such as adjusters, experts and counsel.
  • Able to deliver legal and commercial solutions, working collaboratively with clients and colleagues to provide an outstanding client experience.
  • Take responsibility for managing and developing good relationships with clients based on an understanding of their business objectives.
  • Committed to business development and contribuiting to the growth of the practice.
  • Able to work efficiently and commercially and understands the importance of financial hygiene, sharing that understanding with the team.
  • Adopts a commercial mindset when pricing, resourcing and using technology to manage matters and understands the impact of this on profitability.
