We are currently working with an established Marine services company in the Gosport area who are recruiting additional skilled Shipwrights to join their team due to an increase in work contracts. The Shipwright is responsible for the construction, repair and maintenance of vessels and associated structures and working with a variety of materials to include wood, steel, aluminium and composites.
Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
- Install & repair fittings, frames and plating
- Provide waterfront support to multiple vessels
- Assisting with dry dock operations including refits and conversions
- Read & interpret drawings and technical specifications
- Measure, cut, shape and assemble materials using hand tools and machinery
- Carry out health & safety checks and follow procedures
- Assist with inspections and repairs to existing vessels
- Work and liaise with other trades on site.
Interested applicants will need the following:
- Strong craft skills and attention to detail, a knowledge of shipbuilding materials, tools and techniques and metalworking and/or woodworking skills.
- Vocational training in marine or shipbuilding construction, technical certificate, apprenticeship or proven experience within the industry.
- Excellent time management skills, working to deadlines, problem solving and be able to work as part of a team.
- A Full UK Driving license would be preferred and all candidates will need to be security cleared.
This permanent role will be working 39hrs per week Monday-Friday + overtime (when required), with on site parking and pension available.
