Catering Assistant/Prep in Southampton

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Food Preparation Worker to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing specific ingredients using your experience in dicing, cutting and measuring and you will play a crucial part in ensuring that all food safety standards are met. This role can also offer excellent opportunities to progress.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cut produce including meats as required for commercial orders.
• Measuring and weighing items for packaging.
• Ensure all food safety guidelines are adhered to, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including utensils, equipment, and work surfaces.
• Monitor food production processes to ensure quality and consistency.
• Assist team members to ensure efficient workflow in the kitchen.
• Conduct regular checks on inventory levels and report any shortages or issues to management.

Experience
Ideal candidates will possess the following skills:

• Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.
• Experience in food production and using a knife for cutting/dicing is essential.
• Following food and order specifications.
• Food Preparation experience.
• Experience working within a kitchen (Ideally a chef based role) to move into more regular hours.

If you have a passion for food preparation and are eager to contribute, this role is 40hrs per week Monday-Friday and is an early shift from 03:00-12:00pm with overtime available. This role will be working in a chilled environment and transport is preferred due to limited public transport and rural location.

Job Types: Full-time, Temp to perm

Contract length: 12 weeks

Pay: £13.00-£13.60 per hour

Expected hours: 41.7 per week
