REACH Regulatory Specialist

The Opportunity
We are seeking a senior and experienced consultant with deep expertise in EU and UK chemicals regulation to join our Chemicals division.
This role is suited to someone who wants to operate at the centre of chemical regulatory decision making, supporting companies and industry associations in navigating complex regulatory challenges and protecting market access.
Our work in this area spans REACH Authorisation, Restriction and wider regulatory strategy, including delivery of Analysis of Alternatives and Socio Economic Analysis that informs regulatory outcomes across the UK and EU.
You will contribute to the delivery of technically complex consultancy projects for industry clients while also supporting the development of new work through proposal preparation, client engagement and commercial and technical input to bids.
The role is intended to strengthen the team’s senior regulatory consulting capability, bringing additional experience and judgement to the delivery of complex regulatory assignments.
Experience supporting REACH registration processes would also be beneficial, although the primary focus of the role is expected to be Authorisation, Restriction and broader regulatory strategy.

What You Will Do
- Lead or contribute to projects supporting REACH Authorisation and Restriction processes
- Deliver high quality Analysis of Alternatives and Socio Economic Analysis
- Assess technical and economic feasibility of alternative substances and technologies
- Support the development of regulatory strategies and market access advice for industry clients
- Analyse complex qualitative and quantitative datasets
- Draft clear, structured and regulator ready technical reports
- Present findings confidently to clients and stakeholders
- Manage significant technical workstreams within consultancy projects
- Drive and contribute to proposal development and business development activities
- Engage with industry clients, trade associations and stakeholders on regulatory strategy
- Support mentoring and development of colleagues within the team
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and development of regulatory capability within the Chemicals practice
- Bring commercial awareness to proposals and projects
What We Are Looking For
- Significant professional experience working in chemicals regulation or regulatory consultancy
- Strong understanding of EU and UK REACH regulatory frameworks
- Experience supporting Authorisation or Restriction related work
- Experience delivering Analysis of Alternatives and or Socio Economic Analysis
- Strong analytical capability and ability to structure complex regulatory questions
- Excellent written English and report drafting skills
- Experience working with industry clients, trade associations or regulatory stakeholders
- Commercial awareness and experience contributing to proposals or project development

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in consultancy environments delivering regulatory analysis and advisory work, rather than purely internal regulatory affairs roles.
Salary and Benefits
RPA operates a transparent pay policy, with salary based on relevant experience:
- 5 years plus Senior Consultant: from £35,500
- 10 years plus Principal Consultant from £50,000
- 15 years plus Technical Director from £70,000
