Job Title: Exchange Engineer / Administrator – 6-Month Contract (Hybrid/London)

Location: London, UK (Hybrid – 40% Office Based)

Clearance: Active SC (Security Check) Clearance is essential.

Are you an experienced Exchange Engineer with deep expertise in the Microsoft ecosystem and active SC clearance? We have a 6-month contract opportunity to join a leading organisation and play a key role in managing and enhancing their critical messaging and collaboration platforms.

This is a hybrid role, requiring you to be onsite in our London offices 2 days per week.

The Role

As our Exchange Engineer, you will be responsible for the administration, support, and continuous improvement of our Microsoft Exchange and M365 environments. You will provide enterprise-level 2nd/3rd line support, automate key processes, and work closely with compliance teams to ensure a secure and efficient digital workplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support our hybrid Exchange environment (Exchange Online, 2019, 2016).
  • Troubleshoot complex issues related to mail flow, mailbox access, compliance holds, and archiving.
  • Develop and maintain advanced PowerShell scripts and .Net solutions to automate tasks (e.g., mailbox management, reporting, retention checks).
  • Leverage MS Graph and EWS APIs to build custom integrations and automation.
  • Provide expert-level support for the wider M365 suite, including MS Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and compliance teams to validate technical requirements and deliver effective reporting solutions.
  • Manage and implement policies for email routing, archiving, retention (MRM), and eDiscovery.

What We\’re Looking For (Essential Skills)

  • Active SC Clearance is non-negotiable.
  • Proven experience as an Exchange Administrator/Engineer with deep knowledge of Exchange Online and on-premise versions (2019, 2016, 2013).
  • Strong proficiency in PowerShell scripting and experience with .Net for automation.
  • Solid understanding of email routing, SMTP, Azure Entra ID (Azure AD), and Active Directory.
  • Hands-on experience developing custom solutions using MS Graph and Exchange Web Services (EWS) APIs.
  • Experience with M365 compliance tools: eDiscovery, retention policies, and cloud backup/restore.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
