About the role
Communications Engineer in the Royal Signals is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining modern military communication systems that keep the UK Armed Forces connected and operational.
Specialisations
- Network Engineer: Build and maintain secure networks around the globe.
- Information Services Engineer: Install, manage and support critical IT systems that enable seamless information sharing.
- Communications Infrastructure Engineer: Plan and deploy robust communication infrastructure, including fibre optics, satellite systems and other physical assets.
Responsibilities
- Engineer and maintain secure networks, including switches, routers and servers.
- Install and manage critical IT systems to ensure effective information sharing.
- Plan and deploy robust communication infrastructure such as fibre optics and satellite systems.
- Integrate cybersecurity measures into every operation to protect networks and information systems.
- Collaborate with military units, international allies and industry partners to achieve decision advantage on the battlefield.
Qualifications
- Age between 16 and 36 years.
- GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths or ICT.
- GCSE level 3/D (or equivalent) in English.
- Security clearance: Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) and Security Check (SC) required during Phase 1 training.
