The Royal Yachting Association, based in Hamble, near Southampton, is the national governing body for all forms of recreational, competitive and professional boating. It represents dinghy and yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, RIBs and sportsboats, windsurfing, inland cruising and personal watercraft.
Job Role: Environmental Programme Officer
Salary: up to Β£30,000 per annum
Full Time: 35 hours per week
Location: Hamble (hybrid working)

The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is seeking a dedicated Environmental Programme Officer to lead environmental outreach and programme delivery within our Sustainability team in the External Affairs Department.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Provide accurate environmental guidance to members, clubs and centres, and maintain up-to-date resources on the RYA website.
- Develop and deliver outreach activities, workshops and resources that inspire sustainable boating practices.
- Support and coordinate a network of volunteers to lead environmental initiatives.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders and regional teams to deliver impactful programmes and events.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of environmental programmes using data and feedback.
- Represent the RYA at meetings and events, maintaining records and supporting team activities as needed.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- A genuine passion for environmental conservation and sustainability
- Knowledge of environmental issues in recreational boating
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confident presenting and running outreach sessions or workshops
- Experience working independently and within a team
- Highly organised with excellent time management
Desirable:
- Interest or experience in sailing, powerboating, or inland cruising
- Familiarity with topics like climate change, pollution, invasive species, or marine wildlife and habitats
- Experience in volunteer recruitment, training, and supervision.
- Full UK / EEA driving license
