Overview
Retail Customer Assistant – Retail & Cafe at Worcester Royal Hospital. Part-time, permanent role with a pay rate of £12.43 per hour (FTE £22,638 per annum).
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, helpful and efficient service at all times.
- Welcome customers, inform them about specials or new products, answer questions, and accept orders and payments.
- Operate the till and manage cash handling and reconciliation as required.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, comply with Health and Safety and food hygiene standards, and keep all areas tidy.
- Ensure stock and displays are replenished regularly and order supplies if required.
Hours: 25 per week. You must be available to work flexibly between 08:00 and 19:00, covering 5 shifts out of 7 on a rota basis. Weekends on a rota basis. Sample shifts: 08:00–13:30 or 13:00–18:30. The retail sites may be open on weekends and bank holidays. Opportunities for paid overtime in busy periods or to cover absence.

Job Requirements
- Previous retail or cafe experience is advantageous; training provided with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to deliver outstanding customer service and excellent communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and literacy/numeracy requirements.
- Flexible approach to working hours and willingness to work with a team and independently as needed.
- Familiarity with EPOS/till systems and general administrative processes is advantageous.
- Willingness to undertake training and continuing professional development.
Job Responsibilities
- Operate the retail outlet to maintain outstanding store standards and deliver excellent customer service.
- Welcoming customers, providing information on specials or new products, and processing orders and payments.
- Prepare hot and cold drinks (Cafe) and serve freshly made food (cakes, sandwiches, pastries).
- Operate till and perform cash reconciliation as required.
- Receive deliveries, manage stock, rotate stock, and assist with regular stock checks.
- Engage with volunteers to ensure a positive volunteer experience.
- Maintain cleanliness and adherence to Health & Safety and food hygiene standards.
- May involve pushing loaded trolleys of stock over long distances.
