Retail and Cafe Manager – Clatterbridge Hospital (The Wirral) – Royal Voluntary Service
We are looking for an experienced Retail and Cafe Manager to lead our café at Clatterbridge Hospital. The role is part‑time, permanent and based at RVS Café, Clatterbridge Road, CH63 4JY.
Hours and Pay
25 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, 5‑hour shifts (subject to agreement). Salary: £13.28 per hour (equivalent to £24,187 per annum).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate staff and volunteers to deliver excellent customer service.
- Manage day‑to‑day store operations, including stock control, cash handling and cleaning.
- Maintain store standards, health & safety, food hygiene and data protection compliance.
- Achieve set KPIs and manage profit & loss budget.
- Recruit, train, coach and develop staff and volunteers.
- Use EPOS/till systems and Microsoft Office for daily reporting.
- Collaborate with NHS teams and the Retail Support team to implement local business plans.
- Provide regular performance updates to the Area Manager and visit competitors for local market insights.
Qualifications
- At least two years of management experience in a retail or café environment.
- Proven leadership and people‑management skills with a motivational style.
- Cash handling and EPOS/till system experience.
- Understanding of food safety and health & safety procedures.
- IT proficiency: Microsoft Office, email.
- Ability to work calmly in fast‑paced environments, communicate effectively and organise tasks.
- Experience working with volunteers is advantageous.
- Willingness to undertake training and continual professional development.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
