Royal Voluntary Service has an opportunity available for a Service Coordinator to join our team in the Fife Area. You will join us on a part-time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a salary of £13.49 per hour (FTE £24,552 per annum). The successful candidate would need to live within and work across the Fife area.

About The Service Coordinator Role

You will coordinate and facilitate the operation of groups for older people across Fife. The role of a Service Coordinator is to design, prepare and deliver activities for the groups on a weekly basis. Alongside supporting the Service Manager with the co-ordination of Volunteers, including recruitment and training, to enhance the overall service provision provided to those attending the groups. Some of our groups cater for people who live with dementia and their carers and you will be expected to deliver services to the same standard for these people.

Location: You will be working across the Fife area.

In order to fulfil this role, the successful candidate will need a full valid driving licence and access to a vehicle with business use car insurance. Business mileage will be reimbursed via expenses.

Hours: 24 hours per week, 6 hours a day, including a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

What You’ll Need To Know

  • Knowledge
    • Understanding of the benefit of group settings and activities for older people.
    • A knowledge and experience of dementia (personal and/or professional).
    • Safeguarding vulnerable adults.
  • Skills
    • Excellent communication and listening skills.
    • Good organisation and facilitation skills.
    • A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance (mileage paid/reimbursed).
  • Experience
    • Experience of working with older people. Working with people living with dementia and/or their carers will be an advantage.
    • Delivering activities within a group setting.
    • Ability to proficiently use standard IT systems – Microsoft Office/Word/Excel, client database entry and management.

This Is What You'll Be Doing

  • Day to day co-ordination of the group provision including but not exclusive to; activity planning and delivery, organising refreshment provision and regular communication with group members and venues.
  • Co-ordination of volunteers, ensuring arrangements are in place for their recruitment and training. Providing support and ensuring the value of volunteers within each group.
  • Delivering a high quality activity plan at groups, in line with best practice and feedback from attendees.
  • Day to day general administrative duties including data entry for the RVS Management Information Systems, emails, Teams meetings etc. Support for the Service Manager in collating statistical information for reporting purposes.
  • Participate in local Fundraising for Royal Voluntary Service as agreed with Service Manager and Operations Manager.
  • Assisting Service Manager to ensuring compliance with statutory standards, policies and procedures e.g. Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, Data Protection and Safeguarding.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties inline with the purpose and remit of the post and agreed with the Service Manager.

  • Written and Oral Communication: Talks readily and confidently to groups and individuals. Often playing a leading and influential role in debate and discussion. Writes in a clear and concise manner using appropriate style and language for the reader.
  • Flexibility: Enjoys participating in group activities and likes to work with other people. Is ready to collaborate with and support others and is willing to cooperate and compromise for the overall good.
  • Team Working: Shows respect for the views and contributions of other team members; shows empathy; listens, supports and cares for others; consults others and shares information and expertise with them; builds team spirit and reconciles conflict; adapts to the team and fits in well.
