We have an exciting opportunity to join our team of Patient Care Assistants. This is a rotating role working across our wards and consultation areas of the hospital. The successful candidate will be integral to our dynamic and dedicated team of vets, nurses and students who have a passion for patient care.

The post would suit a friendly team player who is hardworking, enthusiastic and proactive. The role requires flexible working across departments within the hospital depending on service demand, therefore the successful candidate should be confident at both communicating within a large team prioritising tasks.

Previous experience in an animal care environment or in veterinary practice is essential, and an animal care qualification is desirable. This is a full-time position working a mixture of shift patterns, 35 hours per week with 1:4 weekends. Shifts are weeks of 6am-2pm or 1pm-9pm and weekends (Sat/Sun) are 10am-6pm.

Main Duties Include:

  • Assist with and carry out basic physical examinations.
  • Inpatient care including feeding, grooming and general patient comfort.
  • Carry out morning and evening dog walk outs.
  • Observe and report changes in patient condition to the nursing team.
  • Assist veterinary surgeons and nurses during consultations.
  • Provide safe and appropriate restraint of animals during examination.
  • Prepare and clean consultation rooms between patients.
  • Transport patients between wards, consult rooms and other clinical areas.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and infection control.
  • Assist with stock control and restocking of clinical areas.
  • Ensure equipment and workspaces are clean, organised and ready for use.

Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
