We’re seeking a skilled, motivated, and experienced IT professional to join our team as an IT/AV Technician. This is a fantastic opportunity to build on your existing expertise in a fast‑paced, supportive, and varied environment—contributing to the delivery of high‑quality IT services across the Royal Veterinary College (RVC).
In this hands‑on role, you’ll work closely with the IT Resources Manager, the Helpdesk team, colleagues across the IT department, and the Business Information Unit (BIU) to provide outstanding 1st and 2nd line support to students and staff. Based primarily at our Camden campus, you’ll also occasionally travel to our Hawkshead campus to support and maintain over 2,000 University‑managed Windows systems across both sites.
Normal working hours per week will be 35 per week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm. This may vary from time to time in consultation with your line manager. A Working from Home Policy is in operation providing hybrid working opportunities as appropriate.
Responsibilities- Diagnose and resolve technical issues across a wide range of hardware, software, and operating systems—including audio‑visual equipment.
- Offer guidance and support to students with their personal devices.
- Maintain and troubleshoot over 2,000 Windows systems across both campuses.
- Collaborate with other IT staff to deliver user‑focused, reliable IT services that support the College’s strategic goals.
- Strong communication skills and proven experience working with both hardware and software in a complex, user‑focused environment.
- Experience in higher education is highly desirable.
- Solid background in troubleshooting, technical problem‑solving, and analytical thinking.
- Ability to work confidently with technical and non‑technical colleagues to ensure seamless support across the institution.
- Self‑motivated and able to handle a varied workload.
