Responsibilities
This post will involve covering oncology outpatients, alongside the Band 7 Macmillan Dietitian. The post holder will carry their own caseload of oncology and haematology patients, including those being treated for pancreatic, lung and colo-rectal cancers. There will be MDT working with oncologists, clinical nurse specialists, Macmillan cancer support workers and the community teams, such as the Dorothy House Dietitian. The post holder would be expected to support more junior members of the team with supervision. Support will also be provided in developing competencies as part of this post. This post would suit a Band 5 Dietitian looking to specialize, or a Band 6 Dietitian interested in working in different areas.
You will work, learn and develop alongside our therapy colleagues in speech and language, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, based within a new, purpose built building. The successful post holder will provide a Dietetic service for oncology and haematology outpatients; this may involve face to face reviews, telephone reviews, virtual reviews, or joint reviews with other health professionals. This will involve independently covering and prioritising a caseload, requiring good time management skills. You will work together with the Band 7 Macmillan Dietitian and the rest of the MDT team, to deliver effective, patient centred care, and should have good communication skills. We train student Dietitians from the University of Plymouth and the University of Winchester, and this post will be actively involved in student training.
