We are recruiting a Dental Nurse to join our team on a 3‑day a week contract. You will start at band 4 before progressing to band 5 salary. The role offers the opportunity to work within a busy, multidisciplinary team covering Restorative, Orthodontics and Maxillofacial Surgery. You will be supported by the Head Dental Nurse, Dental Nurse Specialists, registered nurses and the multidisciplinary team for all aspects of dental nursing and patient management. The successful candidate will be well‑organised, evidence‑based and able to use initiative and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Act in a supportive, informative and sensitive manner towards patients, relatives, visitors and colleagues at all times.
- Act as a role model demonstrating high standards of holistic care and provide clinical leadership in relevant clinical areas.
- Communicate with a variety of people, adapting styles of communication to meet their needs.
- Use initiative to generate solutions within own and others’ practice to enhance care and treatment.
Person Specification
Knowledge and experience – Essential criteria
- Thorough and up‑to‑date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice, and an in‑depth understanding of maxillofacial conditions and orthodontic treatments which can be developed in post.
- Understanding of GDC requirements for the practice and behaviour and its application to the management of staff and self.
- Understanding of the theory and application of Clinical Governance.
- Experience working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications and Training – Essential criteria
- Inclusion on the GDC register for Dental Nurses.
- Evidence of relevant continuing professional development.
Qualifications and Training – Desirable criteria
- Completion of Dental Radiography qualification within 12 months of commencement in post.
