Overview

We are looking for admin and clerical support for the Trauma Assessment Unit (TAU) for a 1 year fixed term. To provide efficient and professional administrative and clerical support to the Trauma Assessment Unit and trauma sisters. This will include: to receive patients and relatives in a friendly and courteous manner and provide relevant information to patients and relatives clearly and in a way that patients and relatives understand. To orientate patients and relatives to the environment and facilities that are available.

Responsibilities

  • To answer telephone enquiries, taking and relaying messages in a polite and helpful manner, taking action as appropriate.
  • To liaise with nurses, doctors, GPs and other members of the team obtaining and communicating necessary information accurately to assist the provision of a quality service for the patients.
  • Scanning of patient documents and uploading to their electronic record.
  • To input data into the National Hip Fracture Database.
  • To support in the administrative tasks involved in planning of procedures within the unit.
  • To arrange follow up appointments and transport for patients as and when appropriate.
  • To organise the maintenance/repairs of equipment and facilities on the ward.
  • Support the department with stock rotation and ordering supplies.

Qualifications

  • Full training will be provided, however previous experience will be beneficial.
  • Good literacy and excellent communication, both written and verbal, are necessary.
  • Competent IT skills are necessary for the role.
