Overview

Rotational Pharmacist Band 6 role at Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will join the Trust\’s pool of rotational Band 6 pharmacists, rotating through a wide range of clinical specialties including Medicine, Surgery, Older People and Paediatrics, and gaining experience in medicines information, aseptics, haematology, oncology, mental health and quality improvement methodologies.

The Trust provides acute treatment and care for a catchment population of around 500,000 people in Bath and the surrounding towns and villages in North East Somerset and West Wiltshire. Responsibilities

  • To work in all sections of the pharmacy department, as well as with partner organisations on a rotational basis under the management of the section manager and be fully trained in these areas by the section manager. These areas include trust operational teams, mental health services, in-patients, dispensary, homecare services, medicines information, aseptic department and chemotherapy satellite unit.
  • To clinically assess patients\’ medication charts on a daily basis on a designated ward, obtain accurate medication histories, assess discharge prescriptions and participate in discharge planning for all patients on designated ward.
  • To clinically assess and dispense prescriptions in all sections of the department including TPN, Chemotherapy, and radiopharmaceuticals according to standard operating procedures and policies.
  • To provide a final check on prescriptions dispensed by pharmacy technicians, assistants and pharmacy students.
