Job Overview
The primary function of the Evaluation and Insights team is to advise on and deliver real-world evaluation of innovations to understand their impact on patients, staff and the health economy.
The key responsibility of the research evaluation practitioner is to provide evaluation support to a range of complex, high-profile projects and programmes, within the Health Innovation West of England’s business plan.
Main Duties
The post holder will support real-world evaluations which demonstrate the impact of innovation on systems, staff and patient experience and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Working under the supervision of a senior evaluator to collect and analyse quantitative and qualitative data.
- Conducting field work such as interviews, focus groups, observations and other qualitative data collection approaches
- Reporting project metrics using project management software (Verto and Zoho)
- Using tools such as Excel or SPSS to analyse and report on survey and routine data, and specialist qualitative software like NVivo for thematic analysis and Zoho survey for collection of online questionnaire data.
- Producing high quality documents and reports as required using a range of MS Office products (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Carrying out activities to support the development of the Evaluation and Insights team in line with the strategic plan
Experience and Skills:
Essential criteria include:
- Undergraduate or masters degree qualification reflecting a strong research component in health / social care / academic or life sciences
- Experience within an organisational situation in a research or evaluation role, with ability to collect and analyse quantitative data

- Effective and flexible team member with experience of juggling multiple projects and working to tight deadlines.
- Understanding of the principles of research or evaluation methodology
