An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Dental Technician to join our Dental Laboratory team in the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery & Orthodontic department.

Working closely with clinical colleagues, the post holder\’s primary responsibility will be the provision and management of the Oral and Maxillofacial and Orthodontic technical services.

The department is staffed by a friendly and professional team, including 1 Dental Laboratory Manager and 2 Specialist Dental Technicians. The post holder will construct a full range of specialist fixed and removable orthodontic appliances to a high level of complexity, and provide dental laboratory support for OMFS, Orthodontics, and Restorative Dentistry. Most laboratory work will be prescribed by clinicians within these departments.

In addition to hands-on laboratory work, responsibilities include administrative duties such as dealing with patient enquiries, record keeping, developing digital technology skills, and maintaining professional development. The post also involves supporting the Dental Laboratory Manager and staff to ensure effective service delivery.

Key duties include:

  1. Planning and prioritising workload, solving problems proactively.
  2. Constructing orthodontic appliances and other laboratory work.
  3. Analyzing treatment plans and prescriptions, redesigning as needed.
  4. Ordering stock and maintaining accurate records.
  5. Carrying out basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  6. Having the necessary qualifications for GDC registration.
  7. Applying experience in dental technology to deliver high-quality services.
  8. Participating in surveys and audits.
  9. Following safety procedures and implementing policies.
  10. Dealing with technical queries and ensuring timely delivery of services.
  11. Maintaining professional registration and CPD.
