Previous healthcare experience is of benefit, however not essential. We provide all the training you need before you start working in Frome Medical practice.
Main duties of the job
As a Clinical Healthcare Support Worker you will be a core member of the team delivering personal care, both clinical and non-clinical, to patients. You’ll also be key in supporting patients with their own self-care and independence.
Duties
You\’ll work under the guidance of a healthcare professional such as a nurse. Your daily duties will be varied to include:
- Contribute to patient assessments such as blood pressure monitoring, oxygen saturation levels, body temperature, ECGs, venepuncture and cannulation
- Recording your actions accurately in patient notes.
- Use of electronic equipment such as computer on wheels, IPR.
- Taking bloods
The Skills We Are Looking For
- You need to be able to understand and communicate both verbally and in writing in English
- You don’t need any formal qualifications in maths but you will need to have numerical and analytic skills to do patient observations, and totaling of fluid balance.
- You will need to have a customer focused approach which is essential to providing patients with the best possible experience
- You will need to be able to use IT systems and databases
- You will have the skill to focus on the details with the ability to spot problems. You will know when you are able to correct or when to escalate.
