Hours: 37.5 hours a week

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated individual to take up the post of the Head of Specialist Community Nursing.

The Head of Specialist Community Nursing will provide professional leadership to the specialist nursing workforce and work with the Specialist Community Nursing Team Leader to ensure effective operational delivery of services.

KeyResponsibilities of the Head of Specialist Community Nursing:

  • To provide strategic, professional and clinical leadership for the Hospice Specialist Community Nursing Service, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, effective and responsive specialist palliative and end-of-life care across the community.
  • The post holder will lead the development of community nursing services, promote clinical excellence, assure quality and governance, and work collaboratively with local health and social care partners to support delivery of integrated palliative and end-of-life care.
  • The post holder will contribute to organisational strategy, service transformation and system-wide developments within palliative and end-of-life care.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • First-level Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration; Degree in Nursing or relevant healthcare subject; post-registration qualification in Palliative Care, Cancer Care or related speciality; Leadership and management training; CPD evidence
  • Strategic leadership; Leading through others; Influencing and negotiation; Data analysis; Written and verbal communication; Organisational skills; Change management; Interpersonal skills
  • Significant senior specialist palliative care/community nursing experience; Band 7+ leadership experience; Service development and transformation; Clinical governance; Workforce planning; Partnership working; Budget management
