The Royal Thames Yacht Club (RTYC) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Sailing Development Manager to lead and deliver an ambitious programme of sailing training and development. This is a Full Time (5 days from 7) working in London, Queen Mary SC & Cowes. This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in shaping the future of sailing performance and participation within one of the world’s most prestigious yacht clubs.
Reporting to the Sailing Director (with a dotted line to the Rear Commodore Sailing), the Sailing Development Manager will be responsible for developing and delivering a coordinated programme of training and development initiatives designed to increase participation, improve racing standards, and enhance member enjoyment across both team and fleet racing.
The role is based across London, Queen Mary Sailing Club and Cowes, with a minimum of three days per week in London unless otherwise agreed with the Sailing Director. Regular weekend working and travel to events will be required.
The RTYC owns a fleet of 12 Sonars based at Queen Mary SC and 6 J/70s based in Cowes.
- Deliver an engaging programme of training events for sailors of all levels, from elite competitors to occasional racers.
- Oversee preparation and positioning of Club boats and RIBs in coordination with the Sailing Secretary.
- Lead on safety and compliance, including risk assessments, incident records and insurance documentation.
- Assist with team selection for overseas Team Racing events.
- Contribute engaging written, photographic and video content from events.
You will have a detailed understanding of sailing and racing, ideally including team and fleet racing formats. You will bring experience of organising and running sailing training and development programmes, alongside strong administrative and IT skills.
A willingness to travel and work weekends is required.
