Job summary

Post title:Senior Resuscitation Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitable candidate to take up a Band 7 position as a Resuscitation Officer with the Resuscitation training department. You will join a small but dedicated team who are committed to delivering a comprehensive, efficient and effective service across the Trust.

The post requires a motivated individual who has an interest in resuscitation. The successful candidate should be able to work independently and flexibly within a small team.

In the role of Senior Resuscitation Officer, Clinical teaching forms a large component of the role. However, it will also include attending medical emergencies and cardiac arrests, audit, administrative tasks and organisation of emergency equipment provision across all Trust sites.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse, Operating Department Practitioner or registered Paramedic and have considerable post registration acute or critical care experience. You will be an existing Resuscitation Council (UK) ILS or PILS Instructor and hold a teaching /assessing qualification or evidence of formal teaching. Applicants should be an Advanced Life Support instructor or either an EPALS or APLS instructor.

The post involves running practical training sessions and theoretical courses on all Trust sites, and considerable flexibility is expected to accommodate the teaching programme and setting up / packing away of equipment before and after teaching a course. The position will require the post holder to undertake the physical effort of teaching CPR on a daily basis and moving bulky equipment between training sites. A valid UK driving licence, plus the ability to meet the travel requirements of the post for business purposes is essential.

Ensure the service is carried out according to standards set by the Resuscitation Committee, Trust Board and the Resuscitation Council (UK). The post holder will be responsible for supporting the organizing, planning, delivering and evaluating a safe and high quality resuscitation service within the Trust.

Duties include –

  • To act as Deputy for the Resuscitation Services Manger
  • Line manage the Resuscitation Training Department Admin Assistant.
  • To support the effective utilisation of staff ensuring work arrangements are focussed on service need
  • To in the absence of the Resuscitation Services Manager manage staff absence including annual leave and study leave, sickness and maternity leave.
  • To implement and maintain individualised performance reviews and objective setting for direct reports, identify training and development needs including compliance to SaMT.
  • To deliver training as part of the Resuscitation Training Team.
  • To provide guidance and support to all relevant staff during attendance at clinical emergencies
  • To support the evaluation of learning needs of clinical areas through training needs analysis, development and implementing courses as appropriate by members/learners.
  • Provide best practice advice and role models in clinical settings for staff, providing constructive feedback following clinical emergencies as required.
  • To attend any Trust meetings as required and requested by the Resuscitation Services Manager.
