We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR professional to take day‑to‑day responsibility for HR across the organisation, supporting colleagues and managers throughout the full employee lifecycle. This varied and hands‑on generalist role covers recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, policy development, workforce reporting and organisational improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will manage HR systems, processes and records, while contributing to the continued development of people practices and organisational culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, onboard and support staff throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Advise managers and employees on recruitment, absence management, performance, disciplinary and grievance procedures, flexible working and family leave.
  • Develop and continually improve HR policies, processes and people practices.
  • Provide trusted HR advice to senior leadership and managers.
  • Manage end‑to‑end recruitment processes, including advert drafting, interview coordination, contract preparation and onboarding.
  • Maintain HR systems and data, using tools such as Breathe, and generate workforce reporting.
  • Drive organisational improvement initiatives and strengthen organisational culture.

About you

  • Significant generalist HR experience, ideally in a small or medium‑sized organisation covering the full employee lifecycle.
  • Experience advising managers and employees on recruitment, absence management, performance management, disciplinary and grievance processes, flexible working, and family leave.
  • Experience contributing to the development and continuous improvement of HR policies, processes and people practices.
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of employment legislation, HR best practice, GDPR and confidentiality requirements.
  • Strong organisational skills, able to manage a varied workload and reprioritise effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence to build positive working relationships across all levels and handle sensitive matters with discretion.
  • Proactive, self‑motivated, able to work independently and use sound judgement.
  • Ideally, CIPD qualification at Level 3 or above.
