About the RSE

The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) is Scotland’s National Academy. Through the expertise of our Fellowship and the work of our staff, we bring together knowledge, ideas, and people to help address the most important issues facing Scotland and the wider world.

Our Fellowship of over 1,800 individuals spans academia, business, public service, the arts, and civil society. Alongside this, the RSE delivers a wide-ranging programme of research support, policy advice, public engagement, and international collaboration.

We are a collaborative, purpose-driven organisation with a strong commitment to supporting our people and promoting a positive and inclusive working culture.

About the role

We are seeking a strategic and creative Marketing Officer to join the RSE’s Communications team. Our communications function is central to the RSE’s mission to ‘make knowledge useful’ by growing the RSE’s audience, encouraging greater participation in its activities and outputs, and increasing understanding of its relevance to the whole of Scotland and beyond. Marketing and communications support the RSE’s key programme areas: policy advice, research awards, public engagement, young people, and international.

You’ll collaborate and engage with range of stakeholders, including internal colleagues, the Fellowship (our members), academia, industry, civic society and counterparts in partner organisations.

This is an exciting new role to play an important part in bringing people across Scotland together to engage with evidence, ideas, and informed debate.

About you

You will bring:

  • Proven experience in leading and managing high-quality marketing campaigns, primarily across digital platforms
  • Strong expertise in utilising social media platforms and direct email marketing to enhance engagement, promote events, and maximise outreach
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, and manage multiple projects under pressure while staying within budget
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent written communication and visual storytelling skills
  • Experience in working with designers, photographers, videographers and printers
  • Outstanding organisational skills and attention to detail

This role is perfect for someone who is able to demonstrate strong previous communications experience, along with a track record delivering insight-led campaigns and is excited by our mission to make knowledge useful for everyone.

Applications must be submitted by Sunday 8 November, 23:59

Please note that the RSE is not in the position to sponsor work or student visas. Pre-employment screening will include the necessary right to work in the UK checks as well as reference checks.
