We are currently looking for a Publishing Assistant, Journals on a full‑time temporary basis, expected to be up to 12 months.
The Royal Society of Chemistry is a not‑for‑profit organisation whose mission is to advance chemical sciences. As a not‑for‑profit publisher, we reinvest surplus funds back into the global scientific community, supporting our purpose to help the chemical science community make the world a better place.
The RSC strives to continuously innovate its product and services to adapt to market and customer needs, maintain relevancy and diversify revenues from print journals. This requires a market‑led and ‘outside‑in’ thinking approach to product and service innovation.

Your Responsibilities Will Focus On
- Administrative duties associated with the processing of articles submitted and published in our journals
- Daily correspondence with authors, reviewers and publishing staff
- Accurate record keeping of article workflow using management systems
- Prepare invoices for payments using financial systems
- Collaboration with other Publishing Assistants and journals teams to ensure the smooth running of the department
We Are Looking For
- Previous administration experience is required
- Efficient and competent in the use of software packages associated with PCs. Ability to use other software packages associated with opening and manipulating of file attachments of varying types of software
- Good organisational and time‑management skills are required together with the ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
- Good attention to detail
- Good communication skills in interacting with internal and external contacts are essential
- Ability to work well in a team
- Experience of a database tracking system is desirable
