Education Coordinator, Scotland – Royal Society of Chemistry

Salary: 37,556.00 GBP per annum

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Education Coordinator to support our strategic goals through regional engagement across Scotland. You’ll work closely with educators, members and stakeholders to promote chemistry education and ensure our programmes align with the Scottish curriculum.
As part of our education team, you’ll collaborate with internal and external partners, contribute to key education projects, and develop and deliver targeted support for local teachers and technicians. You’ll also help build relationships across the region and represent our organisation at relevant events.
This role requires extensive travel throughout Scotland, including attending and running events for teachers and student teachers, working with members and key education contacts. Travel may be required twice a week, with occasional weekend or non-core hours.

Responsibilities

  • Project management and delivery of local education projects aligned with our strategy.
  • Understand teachers’ needs to inform our support.
  • Deliver support to teachers through networks and online sessions.
  • Advise schools on our range of products and services.
  • Commission support from other teams.
  • Advocate best practice for local curricula and provide guidance to improve impact.
  • Champion and advise on local curricula to keep our programmes relevant to all teachers across the UK and Ireland.
  • Develop successful partnerships with organisations and education stakeholders.
  • Deliver key projects, such as:
    • Providing support to new and trainee teachers through training sessions.
    • Building partnerships with regional stakeholders to support programme delivery.
    • Engaging with local members to advocate for chemistry and showcase best practice.

What We Are Looking For

  • A degree in science, preferably in chemical sciences, or an equivalent qualification, with evidence of working with schools and ideally a teaching qualification.
  • Strong understanding of school, further and higher education systems in the UK and Ireland and deep knowledge of local curricula.
  • Experience of stakeholder relationship management.
  • Good project management, communication, team working and presentation skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Experience of managing stakeholder needs in education settings.
