The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) is recruiting three interns to join the Broadening Horizons programme for 10 weeks. This paid internship supports chemistry students and graduates from Black and minority ethnic backgrounds across the UK and the Republic of Ireland. The programme aims to foster an inclusive and diverse chemical sciences workforce. Interns receive a salary of £24,071 per annum (pro rata).
Role and responsibilities
- Provide hands-on experience in developing and curating journal content.
- Science writing experience in journal blog writing and creating social media posts.
- Collaborate with researchers external to the RSC to organise subject-based article collections.
- Work as part of an experienced editorial team covering the full editorial process from commissioning through to final publication.
- Support future careers in science publishing, science communication, or academic research through this placement.
Location and working arrangements
Open to hybrid working. The role is contractually based at the Cambridge or London office, with the option to work from home within the UK. Attendance at the office is expected as needed for the role.
