We are looking for an Accreditation and Chartered Status Specialist to join us as a key part of the Accreditation & Careers team.

You\’ll play a pivotal role in advancing chemistry education and professional standards by delivering the UK and Ireland academic accreditation programme, with possible opportunities to support international accreditations. Your expertise will drive awareness of academic accreditation\’s importance throughout the chemistry community, particularly among learners and emerging professionals.

You’ll also be responsible for managing individual applications for Chartered Chemist status and contributing to broader membership and industry strategies through effective CPD policy implementation. Working alongside the Professional Standards Specialist, you\’ll continuously update and maintain the standards associated with Chartered Chemist awards while developing enhanced support mechanisms for candidates.

As a trusted advisor, you\’ll provide expert guidance to diverse stakeholders including universities, applicants, CChem candidates, and colleagues on RSC qualifying processes. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of chemistry professionals while ensuring the highest standards of accreditation and professional development across the field.

At the RSC we embrace flexibility and offer hybrid working, which means our teams come together when they need to collaborate. During your first month, you\’ll be expected to work from the office 3 days per week. After this initial period, you\’ll need to be in the office at least one day per month, subject to agreement with your line manager. Please include any flexible working requirements in your application.

What We Are Looking For

  • A degree in the chemical sciences.
  • Can demonstrate an awareness of the range of universities offering chemical science programmes
  • A member of the RSC and CChem (or be eligible for)
  • Have developed professional key skills such as being able to work independently as well as part of a team, communication skills, interpersonal skills, IT skills, accountability and time management
  • An ability to support individuals and institutions to complete applications, to guide them through processes and to contribute suggestions for improvements to processes where necessary
  • Able to apply their knowledge critically and demonstrate an ability to evaluate data relating to education and training in an accurate and equitable manner.
  • Able to interact and network competently with RSC colleagues, members on committees, senior university staff, employers of chemists and peers at other professional bodies
  • Has developed the ability to provide reasoned opinion and objective advice to applicants/assessors and mentors on Chartered qualifying aspects.
