PeacePlus Nature is an ambitious €20.8 million programme that brings together nine partners to tackle the decline in priority species and habitats in Northern Ireland, and the border counties of Ireland. The partnership includes RSPB NI, BirdWatch Ireland, Butterfly Conservation, Monaghan County Council, River Blackwater Catchment Trust, Truagh Development Association, Lough Neagh Partnership, NI Water and An Taisce. The programme will work to restore blanket bog, lowland wet grassland, limestone grassland and priority species including Curlew, Hen harrier and Small Blue butterfly. This is an incredible opportunity to support a team to increase the populations of some of Ireland's most iconic wildlife.

You will work as Senior Administrator for this partnership programme and be managed by the Senior Programme Manager. PeacePlus Nature is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). RSPB NI have invested significant time in building the PeacePlus Nature Programme - a collaborative programme with multiple partners - to create an extensive portfolio of projects some of which are new and innovative.

As a member of the Programme Management Team, you will:

  • Provide comprehensive personal administrative support to the Senior Programme Manager and their PeacePlus Nature team, facilitating delivery of work programmes and an effective working environment.
  • Provide comprehensive business administrative support, including the administration of financial processes, travel and accommodation, events, organising and maintaining materials and equipment, diary bookings and fleet car administration so that staff and volunteers operate efficiently.
  • Provide a dedicated administrative support service to the PeacePlus Nature team, including diary management, drafting letters and other communications, organising travel and accommodation, arranging meetings, so that the individuals can carry out their role as efficiently as possible.
  • Build, maintain and develop effective relationships with people at all levels, using diplomacy and tact, while ensuring that complex confidential and sensitive matters are handled appropriately, so that all contact is professional, and RSPB is represented in a positive manner.
  • Provide comprehensive support to recruiting managers where required for all aspects of the recruitment and induction processes, so that these are highly efficient and compliant with RSPB guidelines while enabling new staff to be correctly and safely welcomed into the organisation.
  • Provide comprehensive project and programme administration support to the Programme, in accordance with the RSPB's Project Management Framework, so that these run smoothly and efficiently.

What we need from you

Essential qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience:

  • At least 5 GCSE's, including Maths and English
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), plus the ability to impart this knowledge onto others
  • Knowledge of document management and team collaboration tools, including SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of budget management terminology and processes.
  • Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences whether by phone, email or in person.
  • Able to organise meetings and events, from small up to very large (hundreds of attendees) and coordinate all aspects of the meeting or event logistics.
  • Able to make the best use of time particularly when under pressure from competing priorities, prioritising and delegating tasks effectively, during periods of both low and high demand.
  • Able to deal with confident and sensitive information appropriately
  • Able to take meeting notes and minutes clearly and concisely
  • Experience of providing administrative support within a large and complex organisation.
  • Experience of liaising with staff at all levels in external organisations, particularly to support partnership working.
  • Experience of managing and reporting financial information.

Desirable qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Interest in and knowledge of current conservation issues and priorities.
  • Familiarity with project management approaches.

Additional Information

This is a Fixed-Term role for 37.5 hrs per week until July 2029. This role will be hybrid - RSPB Belfast/Home Based.
