We are looking for an experienced Wardrobe Technician (Grade 2) to work as part of the Running Wardrobe Team in all aspects of Running Wardrobe including costume maintenance, laundry and performance calls.

Reporting to the Head of Running Wardrobe, key areas of responsibility include (please see the full job description and person specification for the comprehensive list):

  • Ensuring that costume requirements and dressing needs are met efficiently and flexibly.
  • To assist the actors in technical rehearsals and performances with their costumes including quick changes as directed – this includes lifting heavy costumes and dressing actors, often in a short time frame.
  • Performing all pre-show costume and laundry checks, ensuring that costumes are correctly set in dressing rooms and quick-change areas.
  • Dealing with emergency repairs to costumes during performances.
  • To respond to and co-operate with the needs of the Running Wardrobe Department to create a positive and supportive environment.

To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have the following knowledge and experience:

  • A broad knowledge of costume and period.
  • Have experience in managing theatre costume needs for a range of artists.
  • Have an understanding of Costume Maintenance and Costume-related disciplines.
  • Be organised and able to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Communicate effectively with others and work well in a team.

This role is a full-time position working 48 hours, 6 out of 7 days. It is offered as a fixed-term contract for 2.5 months and will be based in Stratford-Upon-Avon at The Other Place.
