The Royal School, Armagh is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of English (full-time, temporary maternity cover) from the start of the 2026/2027 academic year. The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with the ability to teach English Language and Literature up to GCE A Level.

You will inspire a love of language and literature, support high academic achievement, and contribute positively to the life of a thriving and high-performing English Department. This role involves:

  • Delivering high-quality lessons across Years 8–14
  • Assessing and reporting on pupil progress
  • Contributing to pastoral care as a form tutor
  • Supporting the school’s strong extra-curricular provision, including drama, debating and reading initiatives

Applicants must hold a relevant degree, be eligible to teach in grant-aided schools in Northern Ireland, and be registered with the GTCNI by the start of the post. This is a Main Scale teaching position.
