Job overview
This exciting job opportunity is designed for someone who has significant experience in Emergency Medicine and wants to further develop their experience in a busy emergency department, with a patient population with high acuity presentations. The job will involve managing acutely unwell medical and trauma presentations, minor injuries, the supervision of more junior members of the team, including ED doctors, Paediatric doctors and Advanced Nurse Practitioners. There is a great opportunity to help develop the ongoing teaching programme within the ED, as well as involvement in quality improvement projects and safeguarding training.
Main duties of the job
Senior Clinical Fellow - Emergency Medicine
This post is intended to offer Emergency Department experience and an opportunity for the post holder to improve their skills in dealing with acutely unwell patients and patients presenting with minor injuries and illnesses.
General Responsibilities:
Assessment and management of patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries
Supervision of more junior members of the team working in the emergency department
Partake and contribute to the Paediatric teaching programme
Participate in monthly clinical governance meetings
Participate in the departmental audit programme and quality improvement projects
Help supervise and teach medical and physician associate students
Attend and run board rounds at 12pm and 4pm when on shift
Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team

Qualifications
- MBBS/MBChB or equivalent
- MRCEM or RCPCH
- Completion of F2 training or equivalent
- At least 3 years clinical experience in Paediatrics or 3 years of Emergency Medicine having completed ST3 EM requirements or equivalent
- Interest and/or experience in teaching
- Demonstrates previous involvement and understanding of audit
- 1 year paediatric emergency medicine experience
- Quality Improvement experience specific to paediatrics / paeds ED
