The post holder\’s primary purpose is to manage their day-to-day workload for the delivery of recruiting targets. This includes processing candidates, outreach, resources and support to recruitment outputs.,

  • Identify and process potential candidates for entry into the Naval Service following strict recruiting procedures and standards as detailed in BR3, Recruiting Operations Manual (ROM), Recruiting General Memoranda (RGMs) and Recruiting Instructions (RIs).
  • Ensure that candidates are always kept at the heart of the recruiting process and are dealt with in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Ensure the Recruiting Information Technology System (RITS) is utilised, maintained and updated.
  • Manage the completion of the Defence Aptitude Assessment (DAA) for all candidates and conduct counselling post-test, as needed and in conjunction with the ACAs.
  • Responsible for processing candidates to meet the requirements of the Baseline Personal Security Standard (BPSS).
  • Responsible for the provision of advice and counselling for candidates and potential candidates regarding all careers in the Naval Service.
  • Counsel rejected candidates.
  • In relation to outreach the post holder is to:
    • To promote the benefits of a career in the Royal Navy through participation in outreach activities.
    • To maintain a close liaison with civilian employment and career staffs, educationalists, youth training organisations and to represent the Royal Navy within the local community as required.
    • To visit youth and educational establishments offering advice regarding Royal Navy careers through presentations or attendance at careers conventions.
  • In relation to assurance the post holder is to:
    • Prepare for the completion of candidate\’s MCCs.
    • Support T1, 2 and 3 Assurance
  • In relation to resource management the post holder is to:
    • Manage the safe custodian and security of DAA IT, MODET laptops and mobile phones
  • In relation to recruiting support the post holder is to:
    • To progress documentation and allocation of eligible candidates including all aspects of the administration necessary to ensure candidates timely arrival at New Entry Training Establishments (NETEs).
    • Accompany candidates and influencers during arranged visits to HM Ships and Establishments.
    • Assist in preserving the physical security of the Recruitment Infrastructure.
    • Assist in submitting reports, returns and statistics as required by chain of command.
    • Maintain the Team\’s SharePoint area and filing system in accordance with current General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) regulations.
    • Carry out front desk reception duties, which include maintaining the overall appearance of the reception area, where required.
    • Deputise for the TM, when directed to do so.
    • Act as the duty Naval recruiter, if required.
    • Maintain currency and familiarity with the policy documents used for recruiting.
    • The Job Holder is to undertake recruitment related roles, including outreach, or other functions outside recruiting but within their SQEP as required by SO1 Recruitment. These roles will be undertaken either in person and so aligned to the location and terms of their Limited / Full Commitment or via remote working where applicable.
  • Accountability The CA is accountable to the Team Manager. The Team Manager is the First Reporting Officer, the Recruitment Manager is the Second Reporting Officer and the Senior Recruitment Officers is the Third Reporting Officer. The Team Manager will normally conduct Performance Appraisals. Authority The CA3 is authorised to: Sign routine procedural correspondence on matters relating to the selection and processing of candidates and the organisation of outreach activities. The latter must be signed \’without prejudice\’ so that no financial commitment is made. Liaise directly at the appropriate level regarding matters relating to their purposes with:
    • Recruitment Officers, RMs, TMs and ACs.
    • Army and RAF recruiting staff within the Recruitment Hub or satellite office.
    • HM Ships and Establishments including Reserve Units.
    • Cadet Units.
    • Educational and employment organisations and staffs including schools, colleges, careers companies and the employment Service.
    • Regional and R&A HQ staff.
    • Exercise functional authority over any attached/loan Naval Service Ratings/ORs as directed by the TL.
  • Committees
    • To attend team appropriate meetings.
    • To represent their recruiting team at internal and external meetings, as required.
    • To attend periodic meetings as directed by the RF management team.
  • To attend periodic meetings as directed by the RF management team. A Careers Advisor (CA) is a Recruiting Force (RF) RN Senior Rate/RM SNCO working within the Royal Naval Careers Service in a paid rank equivalent to a Naval Petty Officer/RM Sergeant (OR6). Regular travel may[1] be required to the Recruitment Office, area led conferences and Recruitment and Attraction (R&A) HQ.
