As an Information Systems Specialist, you’ll be a central member of your vessel’s engineering team. Using ultramodern radio and satellite systems to communicate with off‑vessel command, you’re key to tactical and strategic communications.
About the Employer
The Royal Navy (RN) is responsible for the protection of British interests at home and around the World. 95% of all world trade passes through the high seas and every year Britain imports £524billion worth of goods. The RN takes an active part in the protection of British shipping. Around the United Kingdom the RN protects vital fishing stocks by monitoring fishing activities in our waters. We recruit throughout the year, so please ignore Key Dates.
What You'll Do
Work on vessels at the forefront of our nation’s defence such as the aircraft carriers HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales. Using cutting‑edge communs kit, you’ll be handling extremely confidential data, including highly classified intelligence and personally sensitive crewmate information. Operate, maintain, diagnose and repair global communication systems to guarantee the safe transmission of information. Find a solution to whichever problem comes your way, working with your team in challenging environments and high‑pressure situations.
Training Outcome
You’ll start your naval career as an Able Rate. With experience and further training, you could be promoted to Leading Hand and beyond.
