Job overview Multi-skilled Maintenance Craftsperson (Mechanical bias) The Estates Department is looking to appoint an enthusiastic working Shift Mechanical Craftsperson with demonstrable experience in the operation and maintenance of engineering services. The post holder will work within the engineering team ensuring the effective maintenance and operation of all buildings, plant and associated services in an efficient, economical and safe manner in accordance with all statutory, NHS Trust and departmental guidelines. This role will provide a ‘Front of House’ service and requires excellent communication skills liaising directly with clinical and non-clinical service users. The post holder will be expected to lead by example and set the standard for the estates front of house team and have a strongly held commitment to delivering a professional estate service. The successful applicant must have widespread knowledge of repair and maintenance of plant and equipment in accordance with good practice guides, relevant statutory legislation, codes of practice, preferably gained in a healthcare environment. In addition, the candidate should also have sound knowledge of Mechanical systems with some Electrical Knowledge (Desirable) and BMS systems. The candidate must be pro-active, dynamic and enthusiastic with a flexible approach to working and willing to undertake additional training. The successful candidate will be required to work shift patterns. Main duties of the job The post-holder will be responsible for maintaining all Mechanical, Electrical and building infrastructure services. The post-holder will undertake complex fault diagnosis and fault rectification, maintenance and capital work across the Trust. In addition, planning minor improvement works as directed by management. To ensure all H & S Control and Asbestos, COSHH and permit to work systems are adhered to at all times. To follow departmental and RNOH operating policies and procedures when undertaking this role. Required to work on his or her own initiative, unsupervised within the standard operating procedures and prioritise the work schedule. To maintain good working relationships and communicate effectively, especially on the routine technical information with the recipients who may not be specialists in the technical field. The post holder shall have or be trained to hold two Competent Person (CP) duties and 1 Approved Person (AP) accreditations. To participate in the Estates on-call rotas covering both sites as directed.
