We are the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and we are here for everyone affected by sight loss. Working for us means working for one of the UK\’s biggest charities, supporting almost two million people living with sight loss in the UK.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Transcription Team at Gateshead.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Producing a range of alternative formats including Large Print, Braille and Audio within the Microsoft package and other in-house programs to client specific requests

  • Working to client Service Level Agreements

  • Work with speed and accuracy whilst maintaining agreed quality standards

  • Assisting automated production routes and delivering feedback to Team Leaders on any non-conformances

  • Scanning documents through OCR software to deliver data to other members of staff.

  • Proofing other members of staff\’s work for any non-conformances

Essential criteria:

  • Ability to work in a production environment.

  • Ability to use machinery, equipment and software.

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience of working within a customer-facing environment.

  • Experience of working effectively within a team, developing effective and supportive relationships with colleagues.

  • Ability to organise time effectively, create work schedules, prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and multi-task with ease.

  • Experience of suggesting improvements to operational processes, and implementing changes that enhance customer experience.

  • Experience of communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, with people internally at different levels of the organisation and externally.
