The Role

The Exhibitions and Design team is responsible for creating engaging visitor experiences across Royal Museums Greenwich's galleries, exhibitions and wider digital programme. The Digital Designer, Exhibitions role sits within the Digital Design Team, part of the museum's Design Studio, where digital specialists work alongside exhibition designers to develop innovative visitor experiences from concept through to delivery.

Working as part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team that includes a digital developer, exhibition engineer and Senior Digital Producer, the Digital Designer, Exhibitions will play a key role in shaping how audiences engage with our collections through innovative digital interpretation, interactive experiences and accessible design. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to major exhibition and capital projects while helping to develop the museum's digital offer for diverse audiences.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the digital design workstream of exhibition projects from concept through to installation;
  • Designing and producing high-quality digital media including user interfaces, motion graphics, film content, animations, interactive experiences and 2D/3D assets;
  • Providing specialist advice on user interface and user experience design;
  • Championing audience engagement and accessible design;
  • Developing design concepts, prototypes and technical documentation that support the successful delivery of digital visitor experiences.

The successful candidate will have experience in designing and delivering engaging digital experiences for public audiences, creating digital media and interactive content, applying user interface and user experience design principles, and working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary project teams. You will have excellent working knowledge of industry-standard digital design tools, strong visual communication skills, an understanding of accessible and inclusive design, and the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptionally high creative standards.

This is a full time, permanent role in Band 4 - Senior Specialists. Core hours of work will be 36 per week, Monday to Friday between 9am - 5pm, with an additional hour to be worked as agreed upon with management. Due to the nature of the work flexibility is required in meeting the demands of the role.

Salary: £43,668 per annum.
