We are a place to explore the sea, space, art and history, and our strategy ‘Charting Our Course’ puts people at the core of its success.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Technology, the Cyber Security Lead will be responsible for protecting Royal Museums Greenwich information systems, users, and data while actively leading the continuous improvement of Royal Museum Greenwich’s cyber security posture. The role combines hands‑on operational cyber security support with ownership of the cyber maturity journey, proactively identifying risks, recommending improvements, and driving changes that strengthen resilience, reduce exposure, and support safe digital transformation.

It is ideal for a cyber security professional who wants to move beyond operational support and take an active role in shaping, influencing, and improving on Royal Museum Greenwich’s cyber security landscape, while remaining hands‑on and close to the technology. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of modern cyber threats, attack techniques, and defensive controls, demonstrable hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365 security technologies (Defender, Entra ID, Conditional Access, Intune, or similar), and the proven ability to assess cyber risks and make clear, proportionate recommendations.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain cyber risks to non‑technical audiences, a proactive mindset with a passion for improving security, not just maintaining it, and experience responding to and investigating cyber security incidents are also essential for this role.

This is a permanent, full‑time role, in Band 3 – Senior Management. Core hours of work will be 36, 9am‑5pm, Monday‑Friday, with 3 days onsite and an additional hour to be worked as agreed upon with management. Due to the nature of the work flexibility is required in meeting the demands of the role.

Salary £55,000 per annum
